RDs Needed for Appointment to College Committees

The College is inviting Registered Dietitians to apply for appointment to the Quality Assurance and Patient Relations Committees. Dietitians can have an impact on how their profession is regulated by serving on College committees, which are composed of RDs elected to Council, public appointees and appointed RDs.

Applications are due April 16, 2018. See the details.

Appointed committee members draw on their professional knowledge and judgment to help develop regulations, programs and policies for the delivery of safe, ethical and quality dietetic service. They also help assess quality assurance, registration and complaint files.

Two positions available for a 2-year term beginning June 2018

The College is inviting Registered Dietitians to apply for appointment to the Quality Assurance and the Patient Relations Committees (see details below).

These are volunteer positions with remuneration for preparation and attending committee meetings.

Note that we operate in a paperless environment. All committee documents are available electronically only. Committee members must be prepared to access committee materials from our online community. We will provide the training.

Quality Assurance Committee

The Quality Assurance Committee is mandated with making progams, regulations and policies to promote continuing competence among members. It is responsible for ensuring that members comply with all aspects of the Quality Assurance Program, including evaluating members’ self-assessment tools, professional development goals, minimum 500 hours of practice over last three years, and peer and practice assessments.

Time Commitment
  • You will be expected to attend approximately 3-4 face-to-face meetings during the day at the College and 10-12 teleconferences per year.
  • Preparatory work for each meeting is about 2 to 4 hours.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a team; Contribute in a respectful way to group discussions.
  • 1+ years of experience as an RD in any area of practice such as patient care, population health, sales/marketing, food service, management and academia.


Patient Relations Committee

Time Commitment
  • You will be expected to attend 1-3 face-to-face meetings during the day at the College and 2-4 teleconferences per year.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Commitment to the College’s public protection mandate;
  • Some experience with strategic communications and public relations.
