Peer and Practice Assessments Postponement

Recognizing the ongoing uncertainty and staffing crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the College is mindful of the demands on the health care system and healthcare professionals. Given this uncertainty, the Peer and Practice Assessments (PPA) 2022 cohort selection is now postponed until later this year. Please contact the Professional Practice Program – Quality Assurance if you have any questions related to the postponement: quality.assurance@collegeofdietitians.org or 416-598-1725/1-800-668-4990, ext. 233/4.

Insulin Dose Adjustments Consultation

The Professional Practice Program thanks dietitians, the public, health professionals and regulators for their input on the Draft Position Statement and Practice Guidelines: Scope of Practice – Insulin Dose Adjustments for Registered Dietitians in Ontario. We received 214 responses to the consultation. Your feedback helps us identify and assess the issues we should examine concerning our public protection mandate.

We are pleased to announce that, during its meeting on March 24, 2022, Council reviewed and approved a final version of the College’s position statement and practice guidelines for publication and communication. The Professional Practice Program will soon be providing education on applying the Position Statement and Practice Guidelines for dietitians.

Follow the College’s progress on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

CDO is committed to informed Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) action that leads to sustainable and meaningful change in carrying out our public protection mandate. In order to keep the public and members informed of our progress, we have created an EDI webpage in the About Us section of our website. Follow the progress of the College on EDI through the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion webpage.

We Want Your Feedback: Draft Policy on Determining Currency Hours

The College is seeking the input of members on a draft policy: Determining Currency Hours with Definition of Practising Dietetics Revisions. In March 2022, Council approved this Draft Policy for consultation. You can give your feedback in two ways: 1. Complete this online survey or email your feedback in English or French to Carole Chatalalsingh, Director of Professional Practice, at carole.chatalalsingh@collegeofdietitians.org. The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. All responses will remain anonymous and will only be communicated in aggregate format.

2021 Renewal Season: Significant Reduction in Late Renewals

The College understands that members lead busy, demanding lives, and that annual renewal may not be top of mind for everyone. We also recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed significant additional and long-standing demands on members, in both a professional personal capacity.

We are pleased to report that the 2021 Renewal Season nevertheless saw a significant reduction (68%) in the number of late renewals this year. The College enhanced its communication efforts, including posts on social media, the College’s homepage banner, and renewal notice reminders sent via multiple email platforms. A total of 4358 members registered with the College in this year’s renewal.

The College wishes to thank members for fulfilling their professional obligations during Renewal Season and avoiding the application of late renewal fees.
