SDL Tool: 2-40 Notification and consequences of non-Compliance

Policy Statement

The philosophy of the CDO’s QA Program is two-fold: to support RDs to maintain and develop competence and hold them accountable for fulfilling the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program.

Consequently, a registrant who fails to comply with the Self-Assessment and Professional Development requirements of the Quality Assurance Program will be referred by the College Staff to the QAC for consideration. The QAC will review information about a registrants' non-compliance and determine the most appropriate action in keeping with the RHPA.

An administrative fee of $130.80 will be levied on all registrants who do not submit their SDL Tools on time.

Definitions:
Non-compliance is defined in two ways:

 1.  A registrant has not submitted a tool as required by the due date.
 2.  A registrant has not submitted a tool online, in the form provided by the Registrar. An incomplete  tool is deemed for the purposes of this definition to not be in the form provided by the Registrar.

An incomplete SDL is defined as any tool that is

  • missing one or both of the required Learning Goals (LGs) missing one of both of the evaluations of the previous year’s Learning Goals (Last Year LGs) or
  • missing an action plan
  • inclusion of a meaningless or trite LG or one that has no relevance to dietetic or related practice
  • content that is on the whole so inadequate as to be deemed not to have been submitted in the form provided by the Registrar
PROCEDURE

QA Staff will issue a written notice (email) by September 1st to the CDO membership of the requirement to submit an SDL Tool by October 31 and appropriate written reminders throughout the 60-day notice period. QA Staff will not contact specifically selected registrants to remind them of their obligations.

Within 15 business days following the due date (October 31) of an SDL tool or the date of any previously approved extension, QA staff will identify registrants:

Who have not submitted their SDL Tool and the registrant will be notified of the requirement to submit the SDL tool and that the Tool will be reviewed by the QA Committee because it was  submitted after the deadline of October 31.

Failure to comply with this direction will result in a possible referral to ICRC with an allegation of Professional misconduct.

Administrative Fee

The $130.80 administration fee will be applied electronically as of midnight on the date that the SDL tool is due.
