Welcome to New Councillors 2019

The College welcomes five new Councillors to the College Council.

WELCOME TO JOHN Regan, mBA, New Public Appointee

John holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario. He has worked in the telecommunications field, the electrical utility sector and film and television production.

His term on Council started in April 2019.

WELCOME TO Elected Councillors

This year, elections took place in Districts 1 and 3, and a by-election was held in District 2.  Here are the results.

Ann Watts, MSc, RD — Elected in District 1

Ann graduated in 1992 from the University of Guelph and completed her internship at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. In 2009, she completed her Masters of Science in Food and Nutrition at Brescia University College.

Ann has been a Registered Dietitian at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance for 25 years. In addition, she has had the opportunity to work in other diverse practice environments, including Home and Community Care, Public Health, Private Practice, Long-Term Care and as a Faculty Member at Brescia University College. In 2011, Ann transitioned to Health Care Leadership at the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance as Manager of the Huron Perth Diabetes Programs. She also volunteers as a Director on the Board at The Local Community Food Center in Stratford. Ann is passionate about partnering and working collaboratively across the health care sectors to achieve the best possible client experience.

Her term on Council will begin at the Council meeting in June 2019.

Lesia Kicak, MSc, RD — Acclaimed in District 2 By-Election

Lesia holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Guelph and a Master of Science from the University of Toronto.  She is also a graduate of the Health Leaders Institute. Her career in dietetics has included publications, research, lecturing, academic advisory, critical care, and leadership at the Hamilton Health Sciences.

Lesia  is a Past President of the College and has also served on several committees. We welcome her back to the College.

Her term on Council started in March 2019.

Donna Hennyey, MA, RD — Acclaimed in District 3

Donna completed her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees and a Diploma in Gerontology at the University of Toronto, and her dietetic internship at Toronto General Hospital.  She has worked as a Community dietitian and in Private Practice (normal, therapeutic and sports nutrition), as well as consulting with a wide variety of groups including: government ministries, national food companies, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, TV Ontario and ParticipACTION. 
 
For more than twenty years Donna has taught Nutrition, Communication and Counselling at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, where she received two Master Teacher Awards. She has represented Canada at two Olympic and three Pan American Games.

Donna is a Past President of the College and served on the Registration Committee when it developed the first dietetic registration exam which later became the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam.  We welcome her back to the College.

Her term on Council will begin at the Council meeting in June 2019.
