Teresa Taillefer, RD Joins as New Director of the Board for District 5

We are pleased to announce the acclamation of Teresa Taillefer, RD as the new Director for District 5 with CDO’s Board for 2023-2024.

Teresa is joined by Dawn van Engelen, RD and Navita Viveky, RD who were newly acclaimed in March 2023 for Districts 2 and 4 respectively. Teresa’s past work with the Board includes a time as vice‐president of CDO’s Board for the 2020-21 year.  

“I have found the experience to be rewarding and look forward to contributing positively to the Board and its committees once more,” said Teresa. “As I’ve done in the past, I will fulfill the duties with enthusiasm and professionalism while focusing on the College’s mandate and strategic directions.”   

Professionally, Teresa is a Registered Dietitian with experience in public health, clinical, administration and quality assurance.  Past board experience include work as the president and vice‐president for a professional society and for a charity organization.  

Academically, Teresa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition; a Master’s degree in Health Studies in Leadership; a Lean Green Belt certification in Six Sigma Process Improvement; and a Canadian Certified Patient Safety Officer Program certificate.    

The Board is responsible for governing the College and regulating Ontario’s dietetic profession in the public interest. It sets the College’s strategic direction, monitors its activities, establishes by-laws, standards and regulatory policies. The Board is customarily composed of 14 directors — eight elected dietitians, and five to eight members of the public appointed by the government. Find out more here.
