The College's New Professional Practice Program

The College has created a new Professional Practice Program, which is incorporating the Practice Advisory and Quality Assurance Programs under its umbrella. The new Professional Practice Program ensures that all the critical quality assurance mechanisms and professional practice components — practice evaluation, education resources, practice advice, and policies — are aligned and work together to help ensure that dietitians continue to maintain their knowledge, skills, and competence for safe dietetic care.

We welcome Carole Chatalalsingh in her new role as the College’s first Director of Professional Practice.

Carole Chatalalsingh, PhD, RD
new Director of Professional Practice

For the past 9 years, I have been a Professional Practice Advisor and Policy Analyst with the College, and I have had the opportunity to connect with dietitians through the Practice Advisory Service. Through these connections, I gained valuable insight and experience into the regulation of healthcare professionals. I have respect for dietitians, as I hear and learn about their practice and their readiness to respond and adapt to changes to ensure safe, competent, and ethical practice.

I have had the opportunity to apply my policy analyst and research skills to collaboratively develop and establish professional practice standards and ethics, to promote the ability of dietitians to access resources, and to help them on a day-to-day basis.

My new role as Director of Professional Practice will enable me to continue to learn and grow. I will continue to contribute to developing professional practice standards and educational resources, while also being able to assist dietitians to engage in continuing competence and professional development. I am motivated, challenged, and inspired to build on my knowledge and experience to ensure a robust quality assurance component of the Professional Practice Program.

I feel extremely thankful and fortunate to continue working with a diverse, highly skilled, and collaborative College staff and colleagues as we all commit to the College’s mandate of public protection.
